"Hi my name is Dave Andrews, today I'm going to show you how to format text in Microsoft Word. Let's go to our computer and open up Word by clicking on the start button, let's go to all programs, let's find Microsoft Office, we're going to click on Word. Now what I'm going to do is type in some text, and I'm going to increase the size of that text so it shows up a little better. Now, what I've just done is I've just increased the size of this text, which is a part of formatting. You can do that with any text that you have inside of a Word document. Basically select the text that you would like to format, I'm just dragging my mouse over the text that I want to change. I'm just going to get all of that word. Now to change the size of the text, you have up here on the home tab a little number, and that basically is the number for the size of the font. Now as I move my mouse over these different sizes you can see that Word is updating the size of that selected text to show me what it might look like if I chose the size that my mouse is currently over. I'm going to click on forty-eight. As you can see that text has been increased in size. I'm going to change the font, which is another part of formatting. On font here on the home tab the default is this Calibri font, I'm going to change that to something like Algerian. And there you can see that my font of my text, which is the way it does sort of appears how it's printed has changed as well as the size. So I'm going to highlight that again, and under your font you have the option to bold text, which makes it thicker and sort of stand out a little more. You have the option to italicize it, which sort of turns it on it's side, and makes it a little more stylish, as well as makes it stand out more. Then the underline text. Now you can do any combination of those three, you can just underline, or you can just italicize, or even bold and underline. It's your choice, just by check those. Now also on this font area, you can choose the color of text by clicking on the A button that has a color beneath it, currently is white. I'm going to make it a sort of this reddish brown kind of color here. Now as you can see just choosing that color it's changed the color of my text. I can also change background color by choosing the highlight color, I'm going to make the background blue. It's that easy to format text in Microsoft Word. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to format text in Microsoft Word."
