"Hi my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to check an IP address in Windows Vista. Let's go to our computer and we're going to go to the command line prompt by clicking on our Start button and right above the Start button in search, just type CMD. As you can see, that gives up the command program here. I'm going to right click on that and click run as administrator. Now you have to have administrator access to use the run as administrator feature so I'm going to click on continue. And this brings up the sort of the MS DOS command prompt. Now what this allows us to do is to run a command that allow us to see our IP address. The command we want to use is ipconfig, that's ip for Internet Protocol, config, C O N F I G. Just type that in and press Enter. This returns a whole lot of data but if we scroll up a little bit using our scroll bar, you'll see here that our IP version 4 address which is what we're interested in is 10.0.1.199 and that is the current IP address that is assigned to this Vista computer. I'm Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to check an IP address on Windows Vista."
