Hi my name is Charlotte Skiles. I am a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas. And the topic that I'll be discussing today is diets for healthy hair. And the main thing to realize here is that both your hair and your nails are really just an extension of the skin. That's it, pure and simple and they are luxuries for the body. So one of the first things I'll see to deteriorate in terms of someone who's not nourished properly is the quality of their hair and their nails because the body really doesn't need them for survival and will use nutrition for other more central parts of the system. So what happens is that what is the skin made out of and what are hair and nails made out of? Well it's a combination of proteins. So making sure that you have good digestion in order to take good food and turn it into good nutrition for the body is first and foremost essential to healthy hair. And also making sure that you have good food in your diet, it's just as simple as that. And the way that looks like is adequate protein for your body's needs. You listen to your body, you listen to the foods that you crave and you honor that. And you eat the foods that exists in mother nature. The foods that we've evolved upon. So what that means is does the food exist out in nature? Can I get it from the ground? Can I pick it from a bush? Can I get it from a tree? Could I go out and hunt this particular animal? Has the animal designed, has the animal lived the life that it was designed to live? These are the questions to ask. As well as the quality of fats in the diet because fat makes up all the cell membranes in the body, everything has a cell membrane and you want that cell membrane to be made of good quality fats, once again that exists out in nature that aren't man made refined and processed. So it's pretty simple if you want healthy hair, you eat nutrient dense foods that exists in mother nature, simple as that.
