Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles. I'm a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas, and today I'm going to be talking to you about the side effects of the colon cleanser. Now, colon cleansing can involve a number of different side effects, cause' usually what these products are designed to do is to move the bowels, move the intestinal tract. Usually, people turn to these when they're experiencing a certain amount of constipation and they're not going to the bathroom on a regular basis. So, the side effects that can ensue from these sort of approaches consist of runny stools, uncomfortable bowel movements associated with a lot of gas, bloating, and cramping, and also, just too frequent of bowel movements with the urge to go to the bathroom that's inappropriate and uncomfortable. So, those would be some of the side effects, but I think the thing to remember here is to be sure to be doing things that enhance digestion in general, and then the bowels will move on a regular basis as they're designed to do. So, stay hydrated, make sure you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables to get your fiber, and exercise. The bowels love it when we go on walks and move, and all those muscles; it's like breathing deep breaths as an internal massage which can move the bowels as well. So, those are just some additional thoughts, because then you won't have to think about the side effects of colon cleansing.
