Hi, I'm Miranda Chook, a CPA. There are several ways to do your state taxes online. If you have a relatively straightforward tax return you can simply download the form from your state's taxing authority and fill out the form yourself. You can also do a search online, and what you'll find is quite a bit of software that's available to prepare your state's tax return, and it ranges anywhere from H&R Block's software to TurboTax, or even your own state's taxing authority. Now, there's usually a small fee if you use one of the third party software packages. If you look at your state's taxing authority they may actually have some free software that's available, but you may have to be, you may have to qualify in order to use it. So, for more information on those type of packages do contact your state taxing authority.
