"I'm Dr. David Thomas. I'm a practicing Psychotherapist in Tampa, Florida with Whitford Thomas Group. Today, I'm going to speak to you about programs for troubled teens. Troubled teens; programs for troubled teens generally come in two different types. One is certainly outpatient programs; where you would kind of go to a specific program, but you still stay at home, go to school, things of that sort. They also have residential programs where you actually go to the program and live on-site. The residential programs are generally for teens who just unable to cope either at home with the parents or siblings; at school or social they're just so very inept. Residential programs, because of the nature of living there, are much intense and much more involved. Outpatient programs can take a, a variety of different forms and they can address various different behavioral problems as well as emotional problems. When we think psychologically of, of don't just teenagers but adults, we're thinking of four different areas psychologically speaking; perceptions, thoughts, feelings and behaviors. So trying to determine what kind of program best fits your teen would you'd want to take a look at; what area they tend to be having the most difficulty with. Certainly, teachers and administrators in your child's, in your teenager's school can help you in looking these types of programs as well as your family physician. There's various different programs with various different emphasis and you really would want to take your time to, to kind of really better understand one; what problems your teenagers having and what programs bets, best fits them.
