"Hi. My name's Katyi Brosnan. I'm a registered nurse here in Austin, Texas. And today, the question is, what are average blood glucose levels? This is going to matter according to whether you're fasting or if you've had something to eat. So a fasting blood glucose level in the morning is going to be between 70 and 110, or some studies show between 70 and 120. But it's good to remember if your blood sugar on a fasting level is 111 or greater, then you're considered an impaired glucose tolerance or to have impaired glucose tolerance. And if it's 126 or above, you're considered a diabetic. If you're checking our blood sugar or blood glucose after a meal, one hour after, your blood glucose should be between, or it should be less than 140. If you're checking it two hours post, it should be less than 120. And those are the average blood glucose levels."
