Hello my name is Shaun here with the Wilmington Boxing and Fitness Center and I'm here to talk to you today about how many flights of stairs equal a mile. People are wondering many how many flights of stairs do equal a mile? Well it's about twenty flights of stairs to equal a mile and it is a great work out for cardio. It is really high and intense and it has really good benefits for building your legs and your leg strength and with doing stairs one of the safety issues is maybe slipping or falling on stairs because you are moving too fast and you may miss a step, that's one of the health and safety reasons but one of the benefits is that it will tone your legs especially if you do them certain ways so let's say for example you do one step then miss the second then go to the third. It's like a lunge step and that is going to work your butt, quads, and your hamstrings also but you are going at a slower pace or if you are doing more for cardio benefits and you want to do like a high intensity maybe at an interval. Say you want to run up the first flight then walk the second flight, you want to run the next flight of stairs. It has that benefit of adding that cardio to it and that's how many flights of stairs equals a mile.
