"Hi this is Rachael Richardson with Nutrolution, Incorporated in South Beach, Florida. In this clip we're talking about what is a dietitian. The elongated name for a dietitian is actually a registered dietitian. And basically that's the main credential in the United States that allows people to practice as dietitian and also nutritionists. So, a dietitian has to go through, a registered dietitian has to go through a pretty rigorous program, starting with a bachelor's degree in nutrition and food science, or nutrition and dietetics. And then going through an internship process where you have to basically apply to a central agency which helps match you with different dietitian programs, dietetic internships they're called, throughout the country. There's dozens of programs, but they are limited and they're small. And basically you go through what's between about an eight month and a one year program. Where you work in hospitals, nursing homes, in food settings such as hospital cafeterias and otherwise. Where then you finalize the dietetic internship, sit for an exam as a registered dietitian, and then you become a dietitian. This has been Rachael with Nutrolution in Miami Beach, Florida."
