Detention officers is a great profession, salaries are ranging depending where you work and what you're doing. Some of the educational needs first of all are some are coming in with associates degrees, some even less, some even bachelors and criminal justice field. Their salaries are starting depending on their experience and their location in the country, maybe somewhere around 30 to 32,000 dollars a year as a full time starting salary. There is a great deal of room for guards, for the guard profession, their advancement is a great opportunity for advancement in the field. It's a field that's expanding now. Many, many new prisons are opening all over the country and the salaries range widely depending on your education, your experience, where you're going to work and of course what kind of organization you're going to work for.
