"Hi, I'm Kelli and I'm an aesthetician and make-up artist at Ulta Salon and Cosmetics, and I'm going to show you how you can remove freckles. Really, the only way to remove freckles is if you actually go to a Dermatologist and you get them lasered, have some laser resurfacing done and that can actually remove sun-spots, age-spots, or freckles. There are some over-the-counter remedies that you can use to help to actually lighten up and diminish the appearance of a freckle, such as a skin-brightening gel. A lot of your skin-brightening gels or your lightening products have a couple different ingredients in them. You can get them with hydroquinone, which is actually a pigment inhibitor, it actually stops the skin cell, the melanocytes in the skin cell from producing melanin, which is what gives skin it's color. So it actually stops that from producing and helps to actually lighten up that freckle, or age-spot, sun-spot, whatever. And used consistently over time that can actually lighten up that spot and take it away, but you do have to be really consistent and make sure that you're using a sunscreen with it. Another thing that you can do, is do a series of like at-home surface peels. And basically these are alpha-hydroxy based products that help to exfoliate, go deep into the skin and exfoliate and get rid of damaged skin cells. So that'll actually lighten up any discolorations as well. So those are some things that you can do to remove or lighten the appearance of freckles."
