"Hi. My name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to talk to you about shortcut menus in your operating system. Now shortcut menu is basically a menu that you receive when you right click on an object in your monitor. I call them context menus because basically when you're right clicking on an object, you're getting a menu that has to do with that object which is in the context of that object. So another common name for a short cut menu is a context menu. I'm going to show you how to use them. And the most common shortcut menu that you're going to run into is when you right click on a file. Like I have here a folder called desktop. If I right click on it, I know have a menu of shortcuts that I can do with that object. I can rename it and it will allow me to call it something else. Going to rename it back to desktop. Or I can delete it. And it will confirm that it wants to delete that file. I can also send it. I can zip it up. I can move it to my documents. I can email to somebody. I can scan it for viruses. I can turn on file sharing. There's lots of things you can do with the shortcut menu. And if you noticed, one of the reasons for calling them a context menu, is the options that I get for this particular folder are in context to this folder. If I right click on recycle bin, it has a different context because there's different things that you'll want to do with it. So you refer to that being as a menu that's in context with that object. And you can see, that one has a lot more options then my recycle bin does. So that's how you use a shortcut menu on Windows. My name is Dave Andrews and I just talked to you a little bit about short cut menus."
