Hi, my name's Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to prevent an overheating laptop. The very first thing you want to do is analyze the space in which you have your lap top setting. I have it sitting here on a good solid desk top. And by setting it on a solid desk top that allows the laptop to utilize the little rubber feet that are at the bottom. It actually raises the laptop a little bit off of the surface that it's sitting on. What that's going to do is that's going to allow air to get up under the laptop and to be pulled in by the fans and cool the components on the inside. Now if I had this sitting on like a tablecloth or a towel, maybe on a bedspread or something like that if you're working on a bed or a couch, any kind of cloth, that's going to stop it from raising up a little bit and keep air from getting inside the laptop. That's going to cause the laptop to get pretty hot. Now if you can see my computer screen I'm going to show you something that you can buy actually that will help keep your laptop from overheating. I'm just going to go on the Internet. I'm going to get on Google and I'm going to do a search for a, what's called a laptop cooling pad. Now you can see they're pretty inexpensive from twenty one to thirty three dollars. But I'm just going to pull up some images here. this is an example of one of my favorite kinds of cooling pads. This actually forces your laptop to be raised off of the surface that's it's sitting on. You can see it's a little platform it's on and it has a bend in the middle that allows air to get to the middle of your laptop. That allows the fans inside the laptop to pull air and cool it. Here's another style that actually has a fan built in to it and guarantees airflow to the bottom of your laptop. My name's Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to prevent a laptop from overheating.
