Hi, I'm Amelia and I'm here to talk to you about the best dandruff, the best dandruff treatment. That's really a loaded question because first you need to figure out if you really have dandruff. Dandruff is actually Seborrheic Dermatitis and it presents as thick scales on a scalp. So what you're going to see is, I guess what your mother used to call cradle cap. It looks like you've got like a layer of alloted gunk and it tends to look oily, waxy and it's not dry scalp. Dry scalp is when you scratch your scalp and you see little flakes fall, that's dry scalp. Dry scalp and dandruff, two different things; dry scalp you can treat by moisturizing or you can even use a dandruff shampoo. Dandruff shampoos, there's several different kinds. You've got the coal tar base; you've got the anti-fungal; you've got the selenium sulfide; you've got the, let's see, zinc selenium sulfide, even the salicylic acid. And what all of that does is go in and that treats the yeast that actually creates dandruff. If you are having a real issue, then you're going to want to go to your doctor and he's actually going to give you an anti-fungal medication, a cream, that will actually, you'll apply to the dandruff after you shampoo. What most people find is that it takes a mix of several different. So may you want to have like some Head and Shoulders, some Redken Therapy and maybe some Selsun Blue or some Tea gel in your shower and like use one one week, one another week and one the next week and eventually you'll figure out kind of what's going to work for you. But it's really a very personal thing, you're just kind of figure out what's going to work; sometimes it takes two or three different shampoos at once and sometimes, it takes you know, a few tries of different shampoos. So the best dandruff treatment is going to be whatever you think on using those particular items.
