I've been in the finance and the business world for well over 20 years, and today, we're going to talk about how to apply for federal grants, to start a business. Now, let me warn you, as I do all other types. When people are out there seeking grants, be advised that, that marketplace is full of people who are willing to part your money from you, for information that you can already get yourself. In other words, a lot are scams, please be careful. When you're looking to apply for a grant, it's obvious that you should know what type of business, or product, you want to bring to the marketplace. Make sure you understand it, make sure you've got a well thought, and written business plan. When you have that done, and you've checked the competition, and you're confident that you can succeed, make sure your resume is up to date, and highlight why your resume, and your experience will help you succeed in this business. Make sure your personal finance statement is up to date. When all that is done, here is the most difficult task you have to do. Go to www.grants.gov, nice, easy website that you can follow through, to get lots of information. When you go to the website, look for the links, such as FAQ's. That will help you navigate through that entire website. That is probably the safest place to find out all about federal grants for businesses. They're there, for new businesses, for expansion of current businesses, but as in all businesses, make sure you think this out. Make sure you have a well written plan, and by all means, seek counsel, good sound advice, like folks from ourselves. My name is Bill Rae.
