"Hi, my name's Lincoln Ward. I'm the director of the Austin Tennis Center here in Austin, Texas. Today we're going to talk about what kind of racket to purchase for a beginner. There's a couple different things you need to take in to consideration. Of course number one is how much you want to invest in to your tennis racket. I would highly recommend starting off with a no cost racket at least until you've started to play a little bit and start to develop your game and then at that point you can decide a more game specific racket for you. You can go any place to get a racket. I highly recommend going someplace where you can demo the racket first. You never want to buy a car without test driving it. I think the same thing's true for tennis rackets. You should actually play with your racket before you purchase it. Many pro shops or the majority of the pro shops in tennis centers out there have available demo program for you to test out the racket, test out a variety of different rackets to feel the difference between those rackets. You shouldn't just go and pick a racket because it looks pretty or it has a matching, it matches your shoes or something like that. You really want to get specific and feel for what makes the racket feel good to you. Beginners, I generally recommend to go for either an oversize racket or a mid plus racket as well as something that's light enough to swing and make contact. Now you don't want something that feels as light as a feather but you don't want something that is heavy as a board either. The best thing you should do is go consult a tennis pro at your local tennis center or someplace that does sell rackets to help you figure out your grip size as well as what specifically is best suited for as far as the weight of the racket. My name's Lincoln Ward, and that's how to choose your tennis racket for beginners."
