"Hi, I'm Kyle with Toyota Tampa Bay. I'd like to talk to you about some of the pros and cons of owning a hybrid car. Now there are several myths out there about the pros and cons of the car. I'd like to talk to about what's fact from my personal experience. Now, obviously several of the pros are going to be the environmental footprint. You're putting less emissions into the environment. You're using less gas. You're saving yourself a lot of maintenance and upkeep on the car. But some of the cons can be when gas prices do go up and when hybrids are very high demand availability goes away very quickly. It can make it very difficult to find a car that matches your needs with the equipment that you want and the color that you want and you may have to sacrifice for something that's readily available. Now, the other side of that is when availability is in sort supply and the cars aren't really out there. The laws of supply and demand say that that prices are going to go up. Now in summer time when gas prices spike and as in the past summer when they were four dollars a gallon, several dealers were carrying premiums of over the MSRP of three, four, maybe even five to six thousand dollars. Now, another con might be insurance costs. Hybrids are really one of those where you have to do your diligence, shop around and make sure you're getting the best deal. The insurance companies because of the added equipment, the hybrid batteries' high cost of repair and replacement, the maintenance expenses from the motor generator can jack up their rates. Now, it's not true in all insurance companies because some will actually be less because of how safe and how reliable and how dependable the hybrid cars are. So there's several pros and cons. Really it's one of those that you have to make sure that you're getting a car that fits your needs. Shop around. Make sure you're getting the best deal on the insurance, the price of the car and finding something that fits your needs. I'm Kyle with Toyota Tampa Bay and that's some of the pros and cons of owning a hybrid car."
