Hi, my name is Charlotte Skiles, I'm a nutrition consultant and clinical herbalist with Eat in Peace Wellness Consulting located in Austin, Texas and today I'm going to be talking to you about the effects of vitamin E on acne. And I guess we need a little bit of clarification here because you can use vitamin E topically or you can ingest it. I'm not sure what the topical effects of vitamin E on acne would be other than to act as something that would be soothing and possibly a healing agent because that's what vitamin E does. You have to realize that in terms of acne there's many causes of that type of skin problem and I would think that vitamin E could be helpful in terms of supplementing with it because it affects the health of the cell membranes. Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin and it exists in all of the cell membranes where the fats do. In order to protect the fats from wear and tear so to speak and just the health of the cell membranes and that's going to be reflected in the skin. So the effects of vitamin E supplementation on acne I believe would be a positive one worth trying among getting to the root cause and accessing out what is really going on there.
