Hi my name is Shawn Jones and I am a professor here at Argosy University. Today we are discussing the topic of the salary of an accountant which can range from anywhere from $8 an hour if you are an accounting technician doing data entry to a CFO of a large global organization perhaps earning well over six figures. However, if you are someone that is graduating from college with a four year accounting degree or a CPA you can probably expect to earn somewhere in the range of 4o to 60 thousand dollars a year. Without a degree perhaps you are working as an accounting clerk handling accounts receivable your wage may be somewhere around $15 an hour to $30,000 a year. If you are some type of a controller again depending on the size of an organization your salary could be anywhere from $60,000 to even $200,000 a year. But basically the salary of an accountant is determined by your function within the department, the amount of responsibilities that you have but also the size of the organization. The larger the organization the more you can expect to get paid.
