Good afternoon. My name is Tom Brintzenhofe, certified master mechanic, out of Reading, PA, and today, I'm going to talk about how to ruin paint on your car. Now, there's a lot of different ways, on how you can ruin a finish on the paint of your car. The easiest way to try and avoid, is park your car underneath some kind of an oak tree, or a maple tree, or a pine tree. Tree sap is a killer on clear coat, fine scratches, from washing your car without rinsing it off first. If you don't take care of the scratches in your clear coat, it will start to rust and peel on you. The other thing you might want to avoid, is parking in direct sunlight, for a long period of time, but general maintenance on your vehicle, your paint job, is basically keeping it clean, keeping it waxed at least once a year, maybe occasionally, maybe putting some kind of a seal on your paint. There's plenty out there. Any parts store, would be able to point you in the right direction. The Zymol is a great product that's out there, it's a little blue bottle, it's about $14.99. Go over that once or twice a year. It's an excellent product to save your paint, but other than that, just keep it clean, and keep it waxed, try to keep it out of direct sunlight, and away from paints and any kind of adhesives and stuff like that, but if you keep your vehicle clean, and nice and shiny, and in good condition, you shouldn't have any problems with your paint.
