"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today I'm going to show you how to create a magazine using Word. Let's go to our computer. We're going to open up Microsoft Word. Go into all programs, Microsoft Office, let's just open up Word. Now I'm going to go to my view tab. I'm going to change this zoom to page width that way you can tell a little bit better what I'm doing. We're going to first put some headers and footers in there by going to the insert tab. We'll insert a header and I'm going to choose a blank header. I'm just going to call this Dave's Magazine. I'm going to make that slightly larger so it's kind of like a title of a magazine there. And then directly beneath that, I'm going to insert the date, 12/9/2008. OK, now, we're done with our header so go back to the design tab and choose close header and footer. Now we're going to put the page number as a number. So go to insert footer. We're going to do a blank footer. And basically we want to here under header and footer select page number at the bottom of the page and I'm just going to do a plain old page number. Let's close our header and footer. So now I have my header up here. At the bottom of each page I have a page number. Now in the text of the page, I'm going to separate it into two columns. The way I'm going to do that is I'm going to go to page layout and then under page setup, columns, I'm going to say two columns. So I'm going to type some text here. This is some test text to show you the value of using columns in Word for a magazine format. As you can see, as I type that, it split it in the middle of the page instead of going all the way to the end. That's because I have two column. So I'm going to copy and paste this to kind of show you how it splits it off. If I continue typing all the way down to the bottom of the page, as I got to the very bottom it took me to the top again and it put it into two columns. Now on the second page it just created, my page number is increased to page number two. You can kind of elaborate on that a little bit but this is the basics for creating a magazine format in Word. My name is Dave Andrews and I've just showed you how to create a magazine in Word."
