This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about how to deposit a check that isn't yours. Depositing a check at a bank is always a situation that an individual has to be mindful of. It all starts when you set up your account at the bank. When you set up your account at a bank, go out of your way to meet the bank manager. Go out of your way to greet the tellers every time you go into the bank and strike up a conversation with them and you get to the point where they know you. They know about you. And when you walk in with a check that isn't yours to cash they tend to be a little more on your side if you will. They have signature cards that are in your account. Also try to carry a cash balance that is always significant enough for savings that will cover the check should it become NSF to you. Banks are people just like you are and it's important to develop a positive relationship with your bank so that when you come in and deposit a check that isn't yours, you'll have less problem than someone that didn't take the time to develop that relationship with their bank. This is financial adviser Patrick Munro talking about how to deposit a check that isn't yours.
