So how do you invest directly in a stock? If you are interested in a company like Microsoft or IBM it is very possible to actually go directly to the company and purchase stock directly from that company. For example if you are a big fan of Coca Cola and you want to own stock in that company one of the easy ways to go about it is to click on the internet, search for Coca Cola, go to their website and almost all large companies hold an investor's or shareholder's section of their website. Once you are on the company's website and you go to shareholder services there is usually a link there that will allow you to inquire about investing in the stock directly from the company. One of the benefits for doing it this way is that you generally do not incur any trading fees to do that. If you would like to do this in a quicker faster way another option might be to open up an account at a discount trading company like for example E-trade or Scott Trade and in that environment you can purchase a number of different stocks for a small trading fee or commission that is paid directly to the custodian.
