A waterpik is one device someone can use to help improve their oral hygiene. Often times it's been compared to flossing which it is good alternative flossing however we find that it's not as effective. But one can find that is a good adjunctive procedure that you can use in addition to normal brushing and flossing. The purpose of a waterpik is to help mechanically remove food and any sort of debris that collects not only on the fronts of the teeth but more importantly between the teeth. Often times we can brush really good but we don't always get the stuff between our teeth with a toothbrush. That's where the flossing and the waterpik comes in. The waterpik is another way of basically delivering a high pressured water wash to these areas between the teeth and the gums to help remove any sort of debris that collects. And what we're going to do is we're just going kind of go through a quick demonstration of how the waterpik works and what it's used for. So what we do first is this is the water reservoir and again all you're going to do is take regular tap water and fill the reservoir up first. Just make sure that we have adequate water. Then what we'll do is we'll snap the reservoir back into the unit. And what we have here this is the handle that will be used, this is actually what helps you floss with, there's a little button and when you depress the button, there will be, the water will actually come out kind of pressurized and you'll use this to actually pressure wash the teeth and the gums. And what we'll do is we'll turn the unit on. And what you'll find on the waterpik again, the water is nice and pressurized so what you can do is navigate this around the tooth and the gums to make sure that all of the debris has been removed. And with a device like this, again with the combination of brushing and flossing the waterpik is another way that we can utilize a device that helps mechanically remove any sort of debris, plaque, tartar or calculus around the teeth to help prevent things such as gingivitis and gum disease.
