Hi, my name is Bill Hager. I'm a licensed life, health and annuities agent in the state of Florida. Question comes up on Medicare recipients about whether Medicare will pay for a Craftmatic bed. The answer is somewhat simple. It depends on the given situation. It does need a doctor's note with a prescription that the recipient does need that specific type of bed. Traditionally the hospital bed that is multi position and multi functional whereby the bedridden patient would have control or a care giver could adjust that type of bed. Again, it needs a doctor's note with a prescription saying that they must medically necessary require that bed and it must be authenticated by a specialist depending upon the particular malady that has put them in that particular situation. If it is situational whereby they need it for a given period of time, but not ongoing, that is much easier for Medicare to get that particular approval. If it is chronic for a long term situation, it requires again a specialist in ongoing prescriptions at a periodic basis and Medicare does contact either the recipient or the caregiver involved to get that particular authorization. I hope that answers the question properly. Again, my name is Bill Hager. I'm a licensed life, health and annuities agent in the state of Florida. Thank you.
