Hi, I'm John Niemira and I'm here at the Salt Lake City campus of the Steven Henager College. And I want to talk to you about setting up a sales promotion contest for your business. Sales promotions are great ways to bring people in. What you're trying to do with a sales promotion is to get names and contacts. You want to get potential customers. You want to bring customers into your store or even if you have an online business, you want to get them to know about your store, your product or your service that you're providing. Sales promotion will get people to you with the incentive that you're giving something away. You're offering a promotional deal on one of your products. So, depending on what product you're selling, of course, what industry you're in, whether you're online or you do have a storefront, you want to develop a system of tickets or email addresses or business cards or some way to track the people. You track the people and then get names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, that sort of thing. So you can start to develop a database on your customers, your potential customers. From that point, your database is used for advertising later. It helps you to let your customer base know what you have, when you have sales, when you have promotions and you're also giving away a great product. That's your promotion.
