"Hi, my name is Dave Andrews. Today, I'm going to show you how to test a hard drive, on a computer. Let's go to our computer, and we're going to scan our hard drive for problems, which will basically run a test on it, so let's click on the start button, and we want to type in a CMD, as in command, and in Vista, you have to right click on it, and say, Run as administrator. Let's say continue. Now, inside of our command prompt here, let's say we want to test our C drive for problems. To do so, let's type in CHK DSK for check disk, then a space, and then a slash F, which means, fix any problems that you might encounter. Press enter. Now, it's telling me here that it cannot check the volume right now, because I'm booted into Windows, and I'm using that volume, so it's not able to check it. It asks me if I would like to check it, the very next time the computer restarts. What you want to do here, is say Y, as in Yes, press enter, and then just simply reboot your computer, and it's going to run through the check disk program, that's going to test every sector of your hard drive, for problems. My name is Dave Andrews, and I've just showed you how to test a hard drive."
