"In this segment we are going to discuss connecting to the internet using a DSL modem/router. A typical DSL modem looks something like this, this one is from Eutopia. It basically has all the connections here that you need and it does require a connection through your telephone company not only will you need a telephone line but you will also have to pay for the DSL service through the telephone company and they will hook it up to your computer with the DSL modem. Now a couple of advantages to using DSL is that it does cost more than traditional dial up service but of course it has the increased download speed. One of the benefits of using DSL connection with DSL modem/router is that your phone line is not occupied. In other words you can surf the internet, check your e-mail and do whatever you do on your computer at the same time that you can be on the telephone and still receive phone calls and use the telephone line."
