"In this clip we'll talk about how to reformat your laptop computer's hard drive and first I'd like to say there are a couple of different reasons why you might want to do this. If you have a very nasty virus or a collection of viruses and worms and so forth and you don't have too much important data on your hard drive, this is a good way to start fresh. You can basically wipe out everything all the viruses that are on your hard drive and get rid of them once and for all. Another reason is that if your hard drive is not performing in an optimal way, you have bad sectors and your hard drive is slowing down, sometimes the only way to fix it is to reformat. Basically reformatting wipes out all of the data and creates a brand new filing system on your hard drive. And there are a couple of different ways to reformat a laptop. You can use the boot disk which will give you a reformat option or if you have your operating system CD and or you're installing a new operating system, it will give you the option to reformat as part of the installation process."
