"In this video, I'm going to show you how to compare tire sizes. In this picture, there are two different tires to compare. There are three numbers on the tire, that list what size it is. The first number is the width, measured in millimeters. The second number is the sidewall aspect ratio, which is the lip of the rim, to the end of the tire. The aspect ratio, is a percentage of the width of the tire. The third number is the diameter of the rim in inches. Now, I'm going to do a little demonstration, and show you exactly what I'm talking about. The tire on the left, is 185 millimeters wide, with a 70% aspect ratio, meaning that the distance from the lip of the rim, to the outer edge of the tire, is 70% of 185 millimeters. The final number is 14, which is the diameter of the rim in inches. The tire on the right is 215 millimeters wide, with a 70% aspect ratio, meaning that the distance from the lip of the rim, to the edge of the tire, is 70% of 215 millimeters. The final number is 15, which is the diameter of the rim in inches. I hope this video cleared up any confusion you had, about reading tire sizes."
