"Any of you guys who play golf know what a sand trap happens to be. Now keep that in mind and the question is how to get back with an ex-girlfriend? This is Dr. Paul author of "Boomer Girls, a Boomer Woman's Guide to Men and Dating" and host of ask Dr. Paul. Okay, you want to get back with that ex-girlfriend. You know it's not a sand trap. Maybe it was up front and you got caught. Well now is the time to let bygones be bygones and you want to do that, but you must convince her to do that. How does she respond and how ex is she and why is she an ex? Is she an ex because she moved to another state and now she's back? Is she an ex because you had a real, serious falling out? Is she an ex because you lost interest or she lost interest? You need to address the problem right up front because if you don't, it's going to be the elephant in the room. You can sit and talk to her forever, but if you don't address the reason why that person has become your ex girlfriend or you can become her ex boyfriend, then it is not going to work. Confront the issue. Don't try to sidestep it. Don't try to make something more than it is. Forget the apology thing. I mean you can say, "I'm really upset that it happened, it's unfortunate that it happened". It may be a two way street. Maintain your dignity and just remember, if you confront the issues and listen, then you're going to have a far, far greater chance of success. This is Dr. Paul. May your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow."
