"On behalf of Expert Village, my name is Tom Roland with Cottonwood Motor Sports and I am here to tell you about doing service on a Polaris Quad and this is fairly representative of macho, many of them. On a Polaris there is a lot of things that need to be looked at. The same with all the different kinds of quads. It depends if severe usage or regular usage what kind of maintenance needs to be done. But all of the manufacturers have recommended maintenance intervals that do need to be followed within reason. On a Polaris, they have a break in service, have a 50 hour service and a 100 hour service. The 100 hour service is the big one. The break in service is important also because the break in service catches problems before they become big problems. The break in service basically covers engine oil and filter, changes the transmission. We look for metal chips coming out of the transmission. We check all of the controls to makes sure they are working okay and we also make sure all the general running of the vehicle and if there is any customer complaints, we take care of those at the same time. The tires and the brakes have to work properly. The brakes on the Polaris are different. The front brakes runs all four wheels. The back brake only runs two of the wheels. As the motor breaks in, the idle will come up a lot of times and making shifting difficult and those are all items that have to be addressed right away. "
