How to Drop a Stitch

"Now we're going to talk about recovering a drop stitch. So what happens? Everybody drop stitches once in a while. I'm going to show you how to drop stitch, which you'll probably do inadvertently. Remember I just changed yarns. Knit, knit. Now, it might be easier if I knit the whole row. I'm just going to knit this row real fast. Let's see, let's drop this stitch here. This stitch, oops, I dropped it. You see it's dropped. We're going to pretend I didn't see and I'm going onto the next stitch. Knit, knit. Then when I get to the end of the row, I count and go oh no, I've dropped a stitch. So what do you do? What you do is you take another needle or if you have crochet hook or whatever. I like to use a needle that's slightly smaller than what I'm doing. You go in there and you see where that dropped stitch is down in here. It's really not that bad. That was not a drop stitch. You take this and you kind of weave it back and forth in there. I'll show you how to do that in a second. First what we're going to do is we're going to, that's the end that needs to be woven in. We're going to knit to the place of the dropped stitch. We knit and I think I dropped it. Well did I drop it? Well, we'll find it. There's the knit. Is the drop there? No. There's the knit. There's the drop. Okay, that's where the drop is. What I do is I take this needle here. See this? I grab it with a needle, I weave it around like this, pull it in and back out. Come on baby work for me. There it is. I deposit my knew undropped stitch on the left needle. This looks a lot more complicated than it is, but guess what? You're back in business."
