"Hi, this is Sean Hobson, for Expert Village. What we want to talk about now is when you're making the return after you've caught the ball, we want to be able to set up whether we're going to run to the middle, to the left, or to the right. One important thing to work on is setting up walls. We're going to have our blockers in front of us setting up their block coverage to one side. We call it a right return, a left return, or a middle return. That's where you have the wall split and we're going to try to take it up the middle of the field. First, we want to try to set that up and get the defense to adjust to us so we can take it off of them. If you're setting up with a middle return, when we catch the ball we want our receiver heading to the side so they think we're coming this direction. That way, they'll bring their defense over to the line to try to stop this outside run. We do not want our receiver to get too deep to the side. We don't want him to go all the way to the sidelines and cut back. We want him to start a little to show the defense and then adjust back and take it up the middle of the field. If we're going to run to either side we want him to crash up the middle and get the defense to bite to the middle and then take it out around the wall or attack the wall to break through. That's just a little way the receiver can set up and protect himself and find the openings for a good return."
