" Hi! I’m Mike with expertvillage.com, today we’re going to talk about why you might not be able to receive files over the internet through programs such as I-chat or your chat client or what have you. The first thing you want to do is go ahead and pull up your system preferences. In system preferences we’re going to need to go to sharing, which makes quiet a bit of sense. There are sharing services and there’s firewall. We want to check the firewall to make sure that we’re able to receive files from our friends. The first thing you want to check is I-chat itself. Make sure that the box is checked so that you can receive files; just to be allowed in. What a firewall does is it blocks incoming files or incoming requests that could potentially be malicious and intend. All you have to do is go open up a hole in the firewall sort of speak to allow your photos or music or movies or sounds, any clips or files to get into your system. This will allow you to get you the files that you were trying to get to start with."
