" Hi! I’m Mike with expertvillage.com. Today we’re going to be talking about why I might not be able to print to a shared or network printer. The first thing you want to do is go ahead and try to print, and when that doesn’t work is where we’re going to start. From our shared printers list, we’ll often see that sometimes you get more than one copy of a printer and or it may have an exclamation point next to it. When it has an exclamation point next to it the first thing you want to check are check the computer that actually has the printer connected to it. Make sure that that computer is on and that printer is on. Just the simplest things can really throw you off at times. Make sure that those two on that you can actually print. Just print a test page from the computer with the printer. Go back to the computer that you want to print from that does not have a printer that’s trying to get to your shared printer, and take a look and try again. If that doesn’t solve it or you have more than one copy of the same name under your shared printers, it maybe just a ghost or a name that was shared previously but isn’t there any longer. That computer was turned off or removed or taken off the network. If you have multiple copies of the same thing try both of them. One of them maybe the one that you actually need to use instead of just a ghost."
