"iStopMotion is a registered trademark of Boinx software, and I am in no way affiliated with Boinx software. In this tutorial, I'm going to be teaching you how to make a basic StopMotion movie in iStopMotion. You may see a checkerboard patter on your screen. If you do, you can come down here to the bottom left where it says overlay and drag that to the right. You'll see what that does in just a second. I'm going to place a car down on my screen here. I'm just going to animate a simple car going across the screen. When you've got it where you want it, click the big red button here. That's going to capture a new frame. Then what you can do is just move your car just a little bit and you're going to see a ghost image. That's what that overlay slider did. You can drag that to see where your last frame was at. In most cases, you're going to want it in the middle so you can just reference your car. After you move it, click the red button again and that's going to take another frame. You just do the same thing over and over again. Just keep in mind that you are taking your movie at 12 frames per second. At every 12 frames you capture, that's going to be one second. I'm just going to do this. It is a very time consuming process, but if you want you can use anything you like. You can use toys. I'm going to go ahead and do this and fast forward it a little bit for you. After you're done recording all of your frames, you hit the button right here. That's going to take you to the beginning of the movie. You can take your overlay all the way to left to see just your movie. When you click the play button, it's going to take a second to render. That's your animation. That's how you create a basic movie in iStopMotion. "
