Instructions
  1. Step 1

Getting your dog to like the groomer is much easier if your dog is young. An older dog will already have opinions about the groomer and may take a little longer to change, but it can be done.

  2. Step 2

Take your dog to the groomer when you don't have a regular grooming appointment. You are going to make the trip, but your dog is not going to get groomed.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you call your groomer and ask for permission before you show up. You can inform them that you are just training your dog to like going to the groomer, which will make it easier in the future. Check to see what a good time would be; doing this quick exercise would not be a good idea during the busy times.

  4. Step 4

Once you have permission from the groomer, take your dog there. Make sure your dog is on leash and you bring some treats and toys. Walk into the groomer's front office and give your dog some treats.

  5. Step 5

Spend a few minutes playing with your dog and giving treats. You are just trying to make a positive association with this location.

  6. Step 6

Do this a few times and your dog will not dread going to the groomer.
