"DIXON GILLETTE: Welcome back to Expert Village, my name is Dixon Gillette and let's continue our tutorial on Microsoft Flight Simulator X. To descend in a Piper Cub, adjust your air speed so that it goes not above 120 miles per hour. Also try to aim for a descent rate of 500 feet per minute. The landing procedures for a taildragger is fairly different than a tricycle or a main gear landing. Flying a taildragger gives you two options where you can fly a three-point landing where you're touching down all three wheels at the same time or you can touch down with your main wheels first. And one thing to keep in mind is the center of gravity on a taildragger is usually located behind the main landing wheels, so if your aircraft is not completely straight on landing it will swing around causing a ground loop on the runway and potentially a lot of damage for your aircraft. To perform a three-point landing in a Cub, simply flare just when you're above the runway threshold. This usually puts you in the perfect position for your aircraft to essentially settle down on the runway in the correct altitude. To maintain a two-point landing in this Piper Cub, you're essentially going to flare but you're not going to flare all the way. You're going to flare just enough so that your main gear touches down very lightly, then you're going to pull back on your throttle to idle and push a little forward pressure on your nose. Once it's on the ground, go ahead and apply the brakes and exit the runway when the controller tells you to do so."
