Video Transcript

"I'm Roxanne Beckford Hoge and I'm back to talk to you about dressing for pregnancy. The first most important thing is to know what's happening to your body. It's not just your belly that's getting fat. On this side I have a mannequin that's a standard U.S. size 6 not pregnant. On my left a standard U.S. size 6 maternity. You're going to use the same size that you were before you were pregnant after you're pregnant. But you can see not only is the chest area much bigger and the obvious belly but the hips are wider and if you look here the dress makers are taking into account the fact that your thighs themselves are going to be widening out a lot. I can even show you with certainty how this happens because this was me a few years ago with my now 7 year old daughter. You can see that the changes in my body, and I can even put this on for you, didn't just happen here. The chest is bigger, and, as my sister so helpfully pointed out, your back end is going to get larger too. The other change that you're not going to be able to see in this video. Your feet. You've probably heard this. You might need new shoes because you can go up including a whole size so watch out for that. Now that you know what's happening let's talk about how to dress this new body because you can't wear your old clothes."
