"Now what you want to make sure you're not doing, is you need to make sure you're not keeping your leopard gecko at too low of a temperature. In a cooler climate you're going to want to provide more heating accessories than what I've shown here. You're going to want to make sure your leopard gecko tank does not go below eighty degrees during the daytime. It's not going to harm it if it goes just below, but temperatures of seventy-four or less for an extended period of time will cause problems with your leopard gecko. What that does is it slows the digestion, it suppresses the immune system which invites all sorts of problems, respiratory infections mainly are the main illness you're going to get from too low of a temperature. Otherwise the temperatures are fairly easy to maintain. Now as far as humidity goes, I had mentioned earlier that I had this soil area over here, that I mist lightly every now and then to provide a little bit of extra humidity. Now it is very beneficial for leopard geckos owners to keep a shelter in their tank that does have humidity in it. Now this shelter here I've created with the flat rocks. Whenever I mist this area, I lift that rock and make sure I get it good underneath there. Having that humid shelter in the tank allows for the leopard gecko to go in there and rehydrate itself. He will soak up the humidity through his skin, and it will also help him be able to shed properly, and it will basically improve the overall health of your leopard gecko. Now some people like to us a small Tupperware as a type of humidity chamber. Any type of small Tupperware with a lid will work just fine. Just cut a small hole out of the side of it, and then what you want to do is you want to place a foam sponge on the inside. Now if you dampen that it does an excellent job of holding the moisture in for a very long period of time. That's just something that you want to make sure you clean out quite a bit, because you don't want any type of mold or fungus growing in there. Now, keep in mind that even though the shelter, it is beneficial to have your shelter humid, you're going to want to make sure that you also have a dry shelter. You want to give your leopard gecko lots of options, and the gecko will do a great job of making sure he's hydrated, he'll thermo-regulate himself. As long as you give him the options I've shown here, your leopard gecko will do an excellent job of taking care of himself. "
