"Now this is a thermometer. I purchased this from my local pet store. This is going to allow me to regulate and monitor the temperatures inside of her cage. That way I know if I'm keeping her at the correct levels for proper development, proper digestion and overall health in general. I'm going to place it about in the center on the wall here, midway between top and the bottom of the cage. That way I can get an idea of the ambient, or overall temperature, of her cage. And that way I have easy viewing. She does have a background here that I like to put on all my terrariums, simply because it helps them to look more naturalistic. This is a type of lid I like to use for all of my reptile terrariums that require glass. A screen top is definitely necessary to be able to provide the heating that she needs. We are going to need to use bulbs that can sit on top. Now I just slip this right on over. And this metal screen is going to allow me to set heated bulbs and incandescent bulbs, anything that provides a lot of heat is going to be able to sit on top of this screen without causing any damage. Now box turtles don't generally need too much heating accessories. I simply use this one, daylight. What this does is it provides not only natural day time light, but it provides a little bit of heat so that she's able to warm herself up if she needs to do so, which she needs in order to thermal regulate."
