on 4/21/2009 I would like to see a little more on traveling. For example, should you take them out while driving? If it's a long trip should you bring their cage? How much attention should they get while in the car? Would it be ok if they sat on the seat by themselves? If you bring two guinea pigs on the trip should they be together, or in separate cages? How long are they aloud to stay in the car? If it's a long trip should I still do the regular routine of feeding and everything? I'm looking to buy a guinea pig or two (they say two is better) and I would have to travel to get them and my family and I go on trips sometimes and I would love for the guinea's to go! Any response would be very helpful.

Thank you!

on 8/2/2008 Why don't we stuff you into that thing! says angela, If you use a bigger carrier, the animal will slide all over the place during transport, I know, I used to use a cat carrier and my poor pig would get distressed in the car. much better to use one, purpose built as shown, it may be a tight fit getting pig in, but less stress long term. Try being positive angela!!!

" Hi! My name is Sarah and I am here at Extra Care Animal Hospital in Davey, Florida, today and on behalf of Expert Village.com, I am going to educate you a little bit about owning a guinea pig. As far as transporting your guinea pig goes, any small cat or dog crate is completely appropriate for transporting your guinea pig. There are a number of carriers out there on the market that are designed specifically for small animals and birds. Any of those carriers would be fine. You want to make sure any carrier for your guinea pig is escape proof and you always want to inspect the carrier before putting your guinea pig in to make sure that there are no signs of wear and tear and that it is nice and clean. If you would like more information about Extra Care Animal Hospital, you can look up our website at www.extracareanimalhospital.net. "
