"Okay, now that we have the weapon taken apart, we're going to show you parts to care for. Again, we have the guide rod and the spring, which gives us the movement of the slide while it's on the lower receiver. Again, in a safe direction, we're going to push in and pull up to release the guide rod and spring. Now, we're going to go in and we're going to remove the barrel. Those are essentially when you do a fill strip of a weapon, which is not an emergency, but a very quick cleaning of a weapon. It's a term that the military use and the law enforcement field strip or a field cleaning. This is as far as you'll take the weapon down. We won't get into the nooks and crannies of the decocker level. There's a million springs and washer and little bolts and everything in there that if they came out and you're not a trained armorer, you can lose it real fast and you'll have an inoperable gun. For training purposes and for just general maintenance purposes, this is probably as far as you'll ever need to break down your firearm. Get a good clean, get all the major parts that makes the gun cycle properly and work properly without getting too far into it. Again, with the lower receiver I'll get my solvent and a soft haired toothbrush, I’ll dip, and I'll slightly just scrub back and forth. Any of the crevices that I can reach, q-tips, pipe cleaners also utilize when cleaning a firearm in those natures. Sometimes you get into some places that are hard to reach with a toothbrush. You just kind of go back and forth. You don't have to have it dripping with solvent, yet you want enough to remove and lead deposits and metal shavings form the rounds. That's how we go. We go back and forth inside the magazine well. Once we're done, we clean it all down. While you have the weapon apart, you want to make sure everything looks in perfect working order. Nothing is bent, nothing is broken, there's not springs hanging it out. You want to check your spring, make sure it has some spring to it. If you will, some spring to your spring. You want to make sure that's there. You want to just observe, do a quick check. Make sure there's no obstructions logged in your barrel, there are no physical cracks, anything that you can see or deformities with your barrel or with your slide. You want to look at these things. Again, soft bristle toothbrush, some solvent, clean that up and dry it down, and you've cleaned your firearm."
