"Hi, I am Karina Fraley for Expert Village and I am showing you how to make a baby blanket. We have selected our fabric, put it together and we have trimmed the edges with a zig-zag stitch so that our fabric doesn't unravel and we are ready actually to finish the blanket. Now, this is very simple, I am going to do a sort of self binding trick here. Basically I am going to fold my fabric over and iron it. And I am going to fold it over about half an inch, three quarters of an inch and there are a couple different ways that you can measure. You can get one of these little hem rulers which basically tell you how far and then you just fold it over and kind of make a crease and then iron on that. Or you can just use a regular tape measure or you can eyeball it, it is completely up to you. And you are just going to basically iron your trim down and then we are going to fold it over again about an inch cause I want to have about an inch trim and you are going to fold that and just press down. Basically just to hold it in place while you stitch it and you fold it down and if you want you can go ahead and pin it in a couple different places and that will hold it nice and even and you can remove the pins as you go and stitch. Now be careful if you are going to pin, always remember to pull out the pins before it actually goes into your needle because you don't want to break your needle. And you are going to go around and you are going to do this around all four edges. I went ahead and actually started ironing my edges down and then I am basically just going to fold over again. Again I eyeball it, but if you want to go ahead and measure it to make sure that you are getting perfect edges that is probably a good idea unless you happen to pretty good at eyeballing. Now there again, there are a couple of different ways that you can trim. If you don't want to trim this way you can actually use binding and I am going to show you how to do the binding in a minute. The corners of the binding can get kind of tricky, but of course I have a trick for that as well which I am going to share with you. I am just going to keep going around and then I am going to use a straight stitch to finish the blanket. So join us on the next clip and I will show you how to do that."
