Cutting the Fringes on a Reversible Poncho

"Now I'm going to demonstrate how to cut and tie our fringe for our reversible poncho. Now we're going to start at the corner because the corner is the hardest place to cut. As you can see on this diagram I showed how we're going to cut. We're cutting two and a half inch fringe, but at the corner the cuts are going to be longer and at a diagonal. Now the best way to do this is to measure the two and a half inches and mark the corner where the two and a half inches meet by the corner. Now we've marked our corner two and a half inches here and two and a half inches here and we're going to cut a line that starts one inch from the tip of the corner and comes to about a little less than a half inch away from our center point. We're cutting through both thicknesses of our fabric and then again on this side. Now you want to make sure that the fringe does not get any thinner than a half inch here because it makes it weak and then you want to mark two and a half inches along here and cut again about an inch and a little diagonal up to the two and a half inch point. Now as we go around the corner we're going to straighten our cut, go about another inch here and cut. See as we go around the corner we're getting a little straighter and straighter and then we'll go to a three quarter inch straight fringe for the rest of the way down the straight edge. First mark off with a couple of pins, the two and a half inches, and then cut each fringe about three quarters of an inch wide and straight up to the two and half inch mark. Continue this all the way down the edge until you come to about five inches from the corner and then again you'll cut the corner and ease the fringes into the corner."
