"Hi, I am Candi Cane-Canncel with Expert Village. In this clip, I am going to show you how to start designing your doll to piece it together. Now one of the things you want to consider when you are making this doll, is what the end use is going to be. If you are going to use it as a pin cushion, as I am going to use it, then something like using the eyes or using a funny nose isn't going to matter too much because your not, you don't have to worry about these falling off. If you are going to make something like a dog toy where a dog is going to be playing with this, you defiantly don't want to use any kind of hard plastic pieces that can get lodged in their throat. I know my dog loves to attack just everything. So this would not be a good thing for her. But an alternative for that if you can use felt eyes, you can also just paint some eyes on, you can use embroidery thread to add detail as well as embroidery thread for a cute mouth. So before we start sewing our doll, what I am going to do is lay out the different pieces and we just kind of want to get an idea of placement. Because, different ways you lay it out, the dolls going to look different. So before you start stitching, you just kind of want to see what you want to do with the end result. If you want to have your legs spread out like that or if you want wider or closer together, your hands down or your hands up. Any kind of little thing just to give your doll a little bit more character. So, in my case, I am going to probably do it something like this. Just to keep a visual eye in your mind of what you want the end result to look like is a good thing at this point. So the next step is that we are going to start stitching up our arms and legs."
