How to Maintain a Shop Vac

"Hi, this is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, I'll be taking about maintenance of your shop vac. Besides from cleaning your shop vac and the filters, there is a couple of other things we need to do to keep it in good maintenance. First off the vent holes located on top of the motor need to be clean and free of any debris. In these vent holes, air is brought into the motor which is going to help keep it cool and help keep your shop vac running properly. So you're going to want to make sure to clean those out. If any debris, make sure to clean that away from it. Next you are going to want to make sure to check the inside of all of your attachments. A lot of times when you're vacuuming you can get build up inside of those and cause them not to work properly. So you are going to want to flip those over and clean those out also. Lastly, you are going to want to check the cords for any cracks, wars, tears maybe. If it got caught on a piece of metal and took a piece of chunk out, you just want to make sure it's in the best condition possible. The cord is the life line of your tool so you want to make sure that it's in great condition. If you do see anything, you want to make sure to get it repaired right away. In addition, the plug end you want to make sure there's all three prongs, they are fully in tacked and they are not bent or twisted or distorted. "
