on 9/9/2009 Do you know the figure eight with bunny ears aka double loop figure eight?

Rather than rethreading the rope at the end to gain a third loop if you just want two slip the single bite over the top of the whole knot and pull on the two loops.

Hopefully that makes sense.

You can then keep doubling the number of loops if you want by taking the two loops you've made and threading them back through the top of the figure eight to create a new bite then take those two loops and slip them over the whole knot again.

That was much more complicated, maybe I'll try making a video...

" Hi! My name is Dan, and I am here with Expert Village today to show you how to tie a triple figure 8. This is a useful knot if you need to have three fixed loops at the end of the line. It is an excellent alternative to the triple bowline. To tie it, start like you are tying a figure 8 on a bite. Your two strands laying next to each other, two twists and then instead of feeding the very end through, take another bite in your line and feed that through. So you have two loops, and trace your third loop back around and through. Now you have a triple figure 8 with three fixed loops. I can tie it for you one more time. So take your bite in your line. One consideration is that it takes up a lot of rope, so allow yourself a good amount of line at the end. Make a loop, twist it around, and instead of feeding the end through, feed through the middle. When you tighten it, if you have all three loops in one hand and you are tightening it, you will end up with three identical size loops… and that is the triple figure 8. "
