" Hi! My name is Rick Wyckoff. You can check out our website at avatartat2.com. I’m here on behalf of expertvillage.com, and I’m getting ready to do a body piercing. The piercing that we’re getting ready to do is a large gauge initial piercing on some earlobes. I’ve got all my equipment here and sterile pouches. I have indicator on that shows that’s it’s been sterilized properly. We’re going to be using some 6 gauge Pyrex barb wires. I’m going to start taking all this stuff out. Basically, the advantage to using glass for piercings is that it’s a totally non poorest. Your body doesn’t recognize that it’s something foreign because it’s made out of pure silica, a component of your collective tissue. Your immune system really doesn’t really react to it. They have this little plastic gramet on the back that holds the jewelry in. A 6 gauge triple bevel needle is what we’ll be piercing them with. Basically, it makes an elliptical incision for the jewelry to sit in there comfortably. I’m placing it in a little bit of a lubricating jelly. These are slotted Pennington forceps that I’ll be using to isolate the area for purposes of accuracy and so that we get a clean piercing, so that the area is supported properly as I pass the needle through on the mark. I have a little bit of iodine tinter and a little bit of gentian violet for marking it. I also have receiving tube that basically protects my hand and also supports the area as I pass the needle through. Then we have sterilized Q-tips and rubber bands and all that in a little cup of surgical stuff. "
